Who was this Hess ?
This version was published only around 1918, though the original version in German was published much earlier. This book is considered one of the founding documents of secular Zionism. Its author is Moses Hess, one of the founders of both Zionism and Communism. Some may know that Hess was the mentor to the a young occultist named Karl Marx (see the work Marx and Satan if info. needed).
For those who believe in religious Zionism, the fact that secularists believe in Zionism also, is simply proof of God controlling the perspectives of certain leaders at certain key moments, something that God has done many times in the Old Testament.
Others though find the quest for that homeland to be a high price for the rest of the nations to pay, especially in terms of the destruction and economic ruin brought about often by those reported to be in charge of the destiny of nations (see the works of Corti). More material about Hess can be found in Fire in the Minds of Men.
